Swachhoday

We are confident that every step you take towards cleanliness will help in making our country clean.

The Initiative

Today, Mr. Rajeev Verma’s role is much larger. He holds the extremely privileged position of being one of the few ‘Swachha Bharat Doot’ or Ambassadors in India appointed by the Ministry of Urban Development. This responsibility has infused in him more enthusiasm to stand up to the faith.

Since early 2015, BKSEWS launched “Swachhoday”, an initiative dedicated to the cause of Swachha Bharat and it has been aggressively supporting the ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyan’ initiated by Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Apart from vociferously endorsing the dire need for cleanliness, it went on to create a very imaginatively conceived poster campaign that was created using a series of Shri Amitabh Bachchan’s movie posters such as Don, Sholay, Dostana, and much more spread awareness about the need for cleanliness in Varanasi. The campaign’s tongue-in-cheek manner of driving the point home was much talked about and appreciated. Manisha Koirala who happened to see one of the posters immediately tweeted her sentiments; the same was then happily re-tweeted by Shri Amitabh Bachchan himself. Later it was also appreciated by Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his tweet and spread throughout the country.

Among the regular Dustbin Distribution Drives that were carried out, one was unique in nature. Dustbins were especially distributed to small boat runners who ferried tourists across the Ganga in Varanasi. These dustbins were meant to be kept in the boats to ensure tourists use them instead of chucking garbage into the waters of the Ganga. Thus, BKSEWS ensured it addresses the cause in a way that gets results.

Creative Poster Campaign for Cleanliness in Varanasi

BKSEWS initiated a creative poster campaign in Varanasi to raise awareness about cleanliness. Through unique and visually impactful posters, the organization showcased the importance of cleanliness and the impact it has on society. This campaign gained significant traction on social media and received national recognition for its innovation and effectiveness in promoting cleanliness.

Dustbin Distribution Drives for Ganga Conservation ( Swachhoday)

As part of their commitment to environmental conservation, BKSEWS organized dustbin distribution drives. The unique approach involved distributing dustbins to small boat runners along the Ganga River to encourage them to keep the river clean and pollution-free. This initiative played a crucial role in maintaining the sanctity of the Ganga and instilling a sense of responsibility among the local communities.

Bollywood Celebrities such as Shabana Azmi ji, Hema Malini ji, Anup Jalota, Divya Dutta, Manara Chopra, and many others were happily involved in various Swachhata activities undertaken by Mr. Rajeev Verma.
